THE ONE FOR ME
Chapter 10

Another week was finished for Samantha and she was desperately missing the time she had spent with Druex. There, of course, were the tabloids who had gotten a wiff of her relationship with Druex. Mostly because of the altercation they had at the club and the girl she fought was all too happy to tell her part of the story.

Samantha was able to keep out of it though, mostly because her school didn't allow reporters on the property and neither did her building so she was safe. Druex on the other hand didn't have as much luck as she did with getting away from the press. It got to bad, what with the mixed stories, that he finally told Free and AJ of BET that he did have a girlfriend and that it was the girl he was seen with exiting the club but that the girl who said that Samantha 'stole' him from her was an avid fan who lied to the press. He told them that there was an altercation in the club but it was the fan's fault because she hit his girl first.

After that interview everyone was trying to find a clear enough picture of Samantha or even a place where they could corner her to get an interview. It got to the point where Samantha barely left her house anymore but after four weeks of seclusion she decided to, for a lack of a better word, fuck it and live her own life.

She missed the time she spent with her friends. They hadn't shopped, went to the movies, or enjoyed a good trip out of town in a long while and she was tired of it. It was because of that decision that she picked up her phone and called Asia, Keora, and Shadae and told them to meet her at her house in twenty minutes. They were going to shop till they drop then hit a movie and dinner.

Samantha peeled off her school uniform then hopped in the shower. After her quick shower she pulled on her her black cotton Victoria's Secret bra and panty set before lotioning her body and getting dressed. She slipped on her black and white BCBG halter topped tunic and white wide legged pants before brushing her hair neatly into a ponytail. She lightly sprayed on her Tommy Girl perfume before slipping on her black slide ins and wrapped her hair in a black silk scarf.

Just as she finished dressing she heard her doorbell ring. She picked up her keys and purse and headed to the door. She gave her friends a quick hug before she locked her door and made her way to the elevator. As soon as they left her building she saw a photographer waiting across the street. She shook her head as she got in her truck that was pulled up by valet. Her girls got in and they drove to the Gucci store to let their agressions out on their parents' credit cards.

It was during dinner when her cell phone rang. She picked it up and was both surprised and apprehensive when she realized that it was her godfather.

"Hey papi," she said over the phone.

"Hey sweetie...how are you doing?" he asked.

"I'm fine now that I'm finally out of the house. Me and the girls just finished our mini shopping spree," she said happily.

"How much did you spend?" he asked.

"More than my parents would ever want to know but hey I had fun and it's not like they're broke," she said innocently.

"That's my girl," Kevin encouraged. "I was wondering if you could do me a favor."

"An what would that be?" she asked.

"I want to interview you on this whole B2K thing," he said.

"No papi," she answered with a sigh.

"Why not? It would do wonders for the ratings. Besides that boy that you're dating already spoke on it so you can't do any damage," Kevin said.

"That's not the point. He's in the spotlight not me. The only time I'm in the middle of anything relatively public is at one of my parents' business functions and you know that," Samantha answered causing Asia and Shadae to look at her with sympathy.

"I know that but the public has the right to know," he said trying to get her to agree.

"The public doesn't have a right to know what's going on in my life. I'm not a singer or a rapper or a model. I'm just me and that's the way I like it. I don't want my business in the public. If I did I would have given you an interview when the articles first came out. That's not my thing papi and don't try to persuade me into it. It will only do more damage than good," Samantha said seriously.

"Alright but if you change your mind let me know," Kevin said before they ended the conversation.

"I take it Kev wants you to do an interview," Asia said.

"You are correct but that's not going to happen. I don't like my business out there like that," Samantha said.

"I feel you girl," Shadae said as their food arrived.

Omari and Druex were in a hotel room somewhere in Philly. They were in Philidelphia because they were promoting their new CD, Pandemonium. Omari was looking at Druex with sympathy because Chris had really been on his case because of this whole 'girlfriend' thing.

"Man if there's anything I can do you know I got ya back," Omari said as he looked at D was laying on his bed with his hands over his face.

"I know but there's nothing you can do. I mean what does Chris expect? There's no reality in us never dating and I don't care what he says. I'm not breaking up with Samantha because the fans are unhappy O. I love the fans, don't get me wrong, but I have to have a life. I can't not be happy so that they can feel that one day they might meet me and we'll fall hopelessly in love and live happily ever after. None of those girls really know me...they know about me and because Chris thinks that they will all hate me and in turn hate the band that he's going to pressure me into breaking up with Samantha then he has another thing coming," Druex said seriously.

"I feel you man. I like Samantha. She's good people's and it fucked up with Chris breathing down your back but if you love her, thing'll get better. I mean our fan should love us regardless because we do good music and we entertain. That's all that is in our job description and we do it well. Chris is just going to have to live with that. Maybe you can get him and Samantha together so that he could meet her. Maybe if he gets to know her than he'll chill out a little but," O said.

"Maybe. We'll see what'll happen when we get there. I'm sick of this damn room. You want to hit the pool?" Druex said and he sat up on his bed.

"Yeah. I'ma change into my trunks. Call D and Rell and see if they want to come along too," O said as he grabbed his trunks and headed for the bathroom.

It had been about a week since Samantha and her girls had their little shopping spree and she felt so much better. It was one of the few times that her parents were actually home so they had their 'family time' thing going on and Sam let her parents in on the happenings that went on while they were gone. Her mother had decided that she deserved some relaxation time and booked them for a day at the spa that very night for the next evening.

Samantha dressed in a pair of black linen Splendid pants that sat low on her waist, a black Splendid tank top along with a pair of black flip flops and endulged in a day of pampering. She and her mother talked about everything and nothing while they got their massages and manicures/pedicures. They relaxed and listening to the soft jazz while they got their facials then talked about the terrible hair styles they'd seen when they got their hair done.

By the end of the day they were were utterly relaxed and happy with how everything came out. They were closer than they ever were. That was what was special about her relationship with her mother. She didn't lie or have to. Her mother may be disappointed with some decisions but would always love her and they had a lot in common and with the trust they've developed, they talked about everything without fear of what the other thought.

That night Samantha slept better than she had in a month. Massages really did that to her and she wished that she had thought of going to a spa earlier but sharing the experience with her mother made the day that much more special. She could only imagine how her parents were going to feel when they got their VISA bill at the end of the month.
