THE ONE FOR ME
Chapter 6

It had been a few months since Christmas and Druex was right in saying that they were not going to have a lot of time together after the holidays. She missed him but they talked regularly and she knew that she could trust him. While he rapped about being a dog, he was anything but a dog. When he was with someone he was with them fully and trusted them just like he wanted to be trusted and she respected him for that.

She knew that a lot of guys in his position wouldn't be the same way. A teenage guy with girls all over the world throwing themselves at him, wishing that he would choose them to 'dog' but he wasn't like that. He was sweet and at times even shy and she liked that. She liked a guy who was who he was and didn't change himself to become what his image portrays. A lot of very prominate artists loose themselves by not separating reality from fantasy and that alone made her love him.

Yeah...love. It's been almost seven months and everything between them was still good. Their parents both approved of their relationship and her friends were very comfortable around him. That in itself said that he was a good person because he friends never fully invited anyone into their circle unless that person was real.

It was a few days before Spring Break and Samantha had no idea what she was going to do. Both of her parents were going to be out of town for that week and all of her friends were already scheduled to go on vacation with their boyfriend's so it seemed as if she was going to be solo.

Samantha decided to go to the gym so she got dressed in some sweats, picked up her phone and headed to the gym that the building had. She walked into the nice large establishment and hooked her phone on her pants and started to do some pull ups. She in the middle of her third set when her phone started to vibrate. She jumped down and answered it.

"Hello?" she asked into the phone.

"Hey baby," a male voice replied.

"Dreux! What's up?" she asked him.

"I know that Spring Break is coming up and I was wondering if you would like to come visit me for the week. We're not really going out of town because we're practicing for tour and I would really enjoy it if you would spend the week with me," Druex said.

"I would love to," Samantha said. "When do you want me to come?" she asked.

"Well seeing as today is Saturday and Spring Break starts Monday you can come any day you want to," he said.

"Well how about I go pack and see if there's an open flight for today," Samantha said to Druex.

"Perfect. Let me know if you can get a flight for today aight?" Druex asked.

"Aight. Bye baby," Samantha said before hanging up the phone and making her way back to her condo.

Samantha called the airport and was happy when she found out that there was one more ticket on a Concord to LA so she charged it and started to pack. She knew that it would be on the warm side so she packed lightly then took a shower in her Pulmeria scented body wash and washed her hair with her bottle of Herbal Essence's before leaving the bathroom to get dressed.

She had blow dried her hair and brushed it in a nice layered fashion before she opened her top drawer and took out a pink fully lined contour balconet bra and matching extreme low rise v-string panty set then put on the outfit she had picked out. Her outfit consisted of a light blue cropped BEBE tank top, a pair of light blue damaged Abercombie jeans that had blue and silver chain belt around the waist. Her French manicured toes were covered by a pair of light blue Abercrombie flip flops.

Once she finished dressing she picked up her bags and had her driver drive her to the airport where she picked up her plane ticket and boarded the flight. As soon as the plane took off she laid back and went to sleep.

A few hours later she was awakened by a stewardess telling her that the plane had landed. She unboarded the plane and went to check her baggage. As she picked up her baggage she called Druex, remebering that she didn't call him to tell him that she got a ticket for that day but she decided to surprise him.

She waited for him to pick up his phone. It took four rings but he finally answered it.

"Hello?" his familiar voice asked.

"Hey boo. I got some good news and some bad news," she said feining sadness.

"Give me the good news first," he said with apprehension.

"I got a ticket to LA," she said happily.

"Then what's the bad news?" he asked with happiness present in his voice.

"It's a ticket for Wednesday," she lied.

"Oh," he said with disappointment clearly in his voice and she suddenly felt bad for lieing but she knew he would forgive her.

"Baby what's your address?" she asked nonchalantly.

"3566 Blast Ave. Why?" he asked.

"I just wanted to know so that when I fly in I can just hail a cab and get to your house without making you go out of your way," she said while hailing a cab.

"It wouldn't be out of my way Samantha," Druex said and Samantha slightly gushed at his caring manner and quietly gave the driver the address to his house.

"Baby I have to go but I'll call you later tonight alright?" Samantha said.

"Aight. Bye baby," Druex said sighing.

Druex hung up the phone after saying goodbye to Samantha. He was so happy when she said that she would try to get a ticket to leave that day and now that he knew that she couldn't make it he was a bit disappointed. Although he wouldn't admit how much to his boys, he really did miss Samantha. He knew he loved her, of course he wouldn't say anything to anyone except probably Jerome and Omari.

"What's wrong D?" Jerome asked as he walked in the living room to see his cousin sulking.

"Nothin'," he replied not lifting his head from his hands.

"Now I know you ain't going to lie like that. Come on this is Rome right here...I know you cuz. What up with you?" he asked as he sat down next to Druex.

"Samantha just called and said that she couldn't get a flight until Wednesday," Druex said as he looked up with sadness clearly written in his eyes.

"You'll be aight. Dude do you want me to drive you over to your mom's?" he asked.

"Nah. I'll be good. I just need some time to myself," Druex said with a chuckle as he got up and climbed the stairs to go to his room.

When the cab stopped Samantha smiled, paid the driver, got her bags and walked to the front door of the house. She placed her bags down next to the door and rang the bell. She only waited a few minutes before the door opened. She was looked up to see a semi tall light skinned guy with twists in his hair.

"Druex is home right?" Samantha asked and her north east accent slipped through freely.

"You aren't by chance Samantha are you?" he asked with squinted eyes.

"Yes," she answered.

"I thought you weren't supposed to be here until Wednesday," the guy said as he moved back and let her in while he picked up her bags.

"It's supposed to be a surprise. Is he home?" she asked.

"He's in his room. It's up stairs, the third door on the right," he replied.

"Oh...what's your name?" Samantha asked before going up the stairs.

"My name is Jerome but everyone calls me either Rome or Romeo," Jerome answered with a small smile on his face.

"It was nice to meet you Jerome but now it's time for me to go see my baby," Samantha said as she walked up the stairs.

Druex heard when the door rang and he knew that it was either one of the guys or one of Jerome's girlfriend's. He really wasn't in the mood to entertain so he decided to stay in his room and stare at the picture of he and Samantha from the Christmas party. He hadn't known the picture was being taken but appearantly that was his mother's goal. She had taken a picture of them standing together, him behind her holding her gently by the waist with his chin gently resting on her head. They looked as if they were engulfed in love and his mother had it framed in a beautiful silver frame and gave it to him as part of a Christmas gift.

He looked into Samantha's warm chocolate eyes and longed to be near her. He wanted to run his fingers through her soft sweet smelling hair and kiss her candy flavored lips. He wanted her. It was that simple. At the moment there was no other girl for him, no other woman could ever match up to her.

She was sophisticated, independent, and knew where she wanted to go in life. She was beautiful in her own right and he knew that she could have any guy that she wanted yet she chose him. He, who most girls would either want because they were infatuated with his on stage persona, looks, money or fame, but she didn't. She didn't need nor want all that to see the qualities he had. She had her own money, she was beautiful and no one could deny that, and if she so chose he knew she could be famous. Any child with parents as rich as she, would immediately be put in the spot light. He knew that her being an only child left every asset her parents had.

She was their heir, so to speak, and she already said that a lot of people wanted to be her friend for what she had so she understood exactly where he stood. This was wifey right here and he couldn't and wouldn't deny it anymore. He loved her and he really wanted to spend time with her.

All of a sudden he heard someone knock on his door. He sighed and got up off of his bed and went over to the door and opened it. He stood there in shock because in front of him stood Samantha.

Samantha smiled as she saw the look of disbelief on Druex's face. She knew that he was surprised and everything was worth it. The cost of the flight, the pain she felt when she heard the sadness and disappointment in his voice from over the phone was worth it just to see the look on his face.

"Surprise baby," Samantha said before engulfing him in a hug.

"What are you doing here?" Druex said as he deeply breathed in her scent.

"I wanted to surprise you. When I called you I was in a cab. Baby, I'm sorry that I lied but I wanted it to be a surprise and it hurt me deeply when I heard the disappointment in your voice," Samantha said sincerely.

Druex didn't give her a verbal answer to her appology. He just gently grabbed her face and kissed her softly yet passionately on the lips. He let every emotion he felt for her seep out of that kiss. The love, longing, tenderness, and happiness were all portrayed from that single kiss.

"I missed you so much. I love you," Druex replied.

In the heat of the moment he let out the three most important words that he could ever say to a female. He hadn't meant to tell her but after seeing her for the first time in months and sharing an unbelievable kiss it just...slipped. He nervously looked away and started to move when he felt her hand touch his arm gently.

"I love you too Druex," Samantha replied with nothing but love radiating from her eyes.

Druex let out the breath that he was unconciously holding and smiled. He picked up her hand and led her down the stairs. They picked up her bags and put it in the room nest to his. They weren't an 'intimiate' couple yet and he thought that she might have been uncomfortable sleeping in the same bed as him and he didn't want to seem presumptious so he made sure that she had her own room, close to his of couse, and set her bags down.

"So what do you want to do now that you are here?" Druex asked her.

"How about getting something to eat because lord know's I'm hungry. Airplane food is just plain nasty," Samantha said causing him to chuckle.

He picked up his keys from the counter and led her to his black CLK 430 and poped the lock. They both got in and he listened to Nas's latest CD, God's Son, while they drove to Rosko's Chicken and Waffles.
